Additional Property Attributes

ReConserve of Michigan, Inc. (ReConserve) will manufacture a registered feed ingredient from non-meat food by-products which include production waste and outdated wrapped returned products. ReConserve provides innovative collection equipment that collects, stores, monitors and tracks food manufacturer's waste. ReConserves redevelopment project will include repairing and modifying two 100-year old processing buildings and an office building. ReConserve will install processing equipment, install grain bins, and install a rail spur that will go directly into a specially designed building to accommodate loading and unloading of rail cars. The redeveloped property will have concrete and paved areas, storm drainage and updated lighting. The rail spur improvement will require that the rail be at an elevation specified by Norfolk Southern. Due to the specified rail spur elevation, it will be necessary to relocate approximately 20,000 cubic yards of soil to balance the Property and raise portions of the Property including the floor of the eastern processing building. Instead of disposing of this material, ReConserve plans to create a greenspace on the southern parcels of the Property which will also allow for potential future use of those parcels as temporary storage areas for ReConserve for equipment and trailers. Site grading and exposure barriers including paved and landscaped areas will also be constructed to limit human exposure to site soils on the south portion of the Property and prevent the incorporation of contaminated soils into the animal feed production processes.

Former Use: The Property has been occupied by various commercial and industrial operations (lumber yard, coffee extract manufacturing, food processing, parts manufacturing, trucking) from the early 1900s through the early 2000s. It has been used for animal feed processing since 2006.
