Additional Property Attributes

A Limited Removal Action (LRA) Report was conducted by IES Environmental Consultants on March 23, 2018 for the property. The Phase I and II activities utilized EPA Assessment funding. The subsequent testing, soil excavation, soil removal, and redevelopment of the property utilized private funding. Lead and Zinc-contaminated soil was identified on-site in which 20 cubic yards of soil were excavated. Subsequent testing of the excavated sidewalls revealed no elevated concentrations of Zinc above RCS-1 Standards. Levels of lead above the RCS-1 Standard remaining at the site are consistent with MassDEP Background Level of 600 mg/kg in Soil Containing Ash or Wood Ash Associated with Fill Material. The excavated soil was transported to an appropriate landfill to dispose of.

Former Use: Site was developed as a multi-family residence prior to 1892. The residence was demolished circa 1972. In the 1930s and 1940s, a store was present at the site. In the 1960s, a machine shop was present at the location of the present-day site building. The site was most recently used for automobile sales in the 1990s and 2000s. The site was vacant at the time of the Phase I ESA and Phase II ESA. Property changed ownership. Current property owner performed subsequent testing, cleanup of contaminated soil, and redevelopment.
