Property Highlights

The ABC Barrel facility was used for various industrial and manufacturing purposes since at least 1885. Starting in the1960s, ABC Barrel Company (or related entities) operated at the site. The various operations occurred within and adjacent to three buildings. ABC Barrel�s operations, reportedly performed indoors, consisted of the reconditioning of steel drums by cleaning open-ended drums using a caustic soda process, and repainting. Hazardous wastes generated at the facility included residual oil and rinse water from the drum washing process. In July 2000, all onsite building structures were demolished following completion of EPA removal actions at the site. Portions of the site have historically been remediated. The remaining Areas of Concern requiring further remedial actions include a former trench area, an underground storage tank area, and historic fill materials which will be addressed as part of the final remediation phase at the site.
