Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Number of Parcels and Acreage - One parcel totaling 60.65 acres. Number of Building(s) and Square Footage - One restroom building (square footage unknown). Current Property Use - Unoccupied property. Standard and other historical sources were able to document that the property was developed with a blast furnace associated with the production of pig iron from 1888 until 1915. Following the abandonment of the blast furnace, the property was vacant until it was utilized as an unpermitted landfill from the early 1950s until 1971. The property was then vacant again until the City began operating a shooting range in the north-central portion of the property in 1984. An earthen berm, restroom building, and sheds to hold the firearms were located on the property until the shooting range ceased operations in 2013. Currently, only the restroom building and a few concrete building pads remain on the property. The property has been vacant since 2013.
