Additional Property Attributes

The property and additional sites located within the same block will be redeveloped with a 72-room boutique hotel and conference center. The private investment of approximately $8.4 million will result in the creation of over 65,000 square feet of new commercial space and create 20 full time jobs. The project is expected to provide an anchor development that will catalyze additional redevelopment in downtown Albion.

Former Use: TheProperty was developed with a residence and an outbuilding by 1888. In the early 1900s the Property was occupied by various retail and service operations (e.g., a photo shop, a cigar factory, an auto garage, a bottling works, and a theater). The cigar factory, auto garage, and bottling works were located in a building on the Propertys western portion. By 1927, the existing commercial building was constructed on the central portion of the Property. The building on the western portion was occupied at various times from the 1930s through the late 1980s by an auto repair shop, a tin shop, vehicle sales, a training center, and a lawn service. This building was demolished in the late 1980s. The existing building was occupied at various times from the 1930s through 1990 by a tin shop, a shoe repair shop, a cab company, a bus terminal, a trash collection service, and apartments. A ministry and the Salvation Army occupied the existing building in the late 1990s through 2013.
