Additional Property Attributes

Renovations to existing building

Former Use: The eastern dwelling was constructed between 1940 and 1949, and the southern dwelling was constructed between 1957 and 1963. The former northwestern building was occupied by various retail stores until the mid-1980s, when the building was demolished. Review of photos available from Highland Township Historical Society indicate a fuel dispenser was located west of the former northwestern building in at least the 1930s. The northwestern portion of the property was occupied by a township park for an unknown length of time after the 1980s, and has been vacant land since. The eastern portion of the current building was occupied by the Township Hall from 1890 to 1953, and was also renovated for use as a fire station by the early 1940s. The eastern portion was utilized as a fire station from the early 1940s until the late 1960s. The western portion of the current building was historically occupied by an automotive dealership and repair garage, and the entire first story of the building has been occupied by various automotive and/or small engine service/repair garages since the 1970s. Operations associated with the former fire station use likely included service of the fire trucks. The dwellings located at the subject property have been utilized for residential purposes since initial development.
