Additional Property Attributes

A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment for the property was completed under this grant. According to Summit County Auditors website, the Property was developed with an auto service station in 1936. The facility was used as an auto parts and auto service center after development. The assessment revealed five recognized environmental conditions associated with the property. A Phase II assessment is needed. The City of Akron is working with the East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation which intends to develop affordable housing along South Arlington Street in this area.

Former Use: According to records maintained by the Summit County Auditor, Stacie Boyer, Avie Boyer, and the Black Board of Trades currently owns the properties. A small building facing Fifth Avenue and a fenced auto storage area to the east is located on the property. The current building was constructed in 1969 when the land was purchased. A gravel parking area was present to the south of the building and contained car parking for B W Auto Sales. The Site is currently used for Boyer's Bump Shop, an auto body repair shop, and as a car sales shop under the name B W Auto Sales. Prior to 1969, the property was developed with a gas station that faced Fifth Avenue and contained a UST and filling pumps. Additionally, three homes were present to the east of the gas station and a residence sat to the south of the gas station in the area now occupied by the gravel parking lot.
