Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The initial development of the Fish Farm predates the 1887 when the Site was developed with several residences. At some point, prior to 1908, the property was developed with the Danish Brotherhood Hall, which was located on the southwestern corner of the property, and Racine Novelty manufacturing. A warehouse type building is shown on the 1933 Sanborn Map with a note indicating that it was constructed in 1928. According to Mr. Olson, the representative for the owner of this property, the building was constructed and used by Case around this time. Prior to 1950, this portion of the Site was sold to Western Publishing Company Inc. The Sanborn Map indicates that the building was used as part of the printing and lithographing operations. By the 1990s the building was utilized by Innovative Services for Industry Inc., which reportedly conducted metal finishing. During the early 2000s, the property was sold to Biddle Enterprises, and in 2006 the Site was purchased by Marquette Distribution LLC. The building was used as an indoor urban farm to raise fish and grow produce using aquaponic methods from 2010 until 2013. The building is presently vacant.
