Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: COST conducted a Phase I ESA at the 29th Street Property and identified two RECs on the Property. Based on our review, the structures formerly located on the Property were built in 1910, 1931, and 1939. Building materials such as floor tiles, mastic, roofing materials, paint, and caulking potentially contain lead and/or asbestos. These materials remained on-site in the debris piles. In addition, asbestos and lead may have been released from the building materials into the site soil as a result of the building demolition; and stained soil was observed in the northwest corner of the Property, potentially due to spillage from gasoline, oil, paint, and other materials. COST conducted two Phase I ESAs at the 33rd Street Property and one REC was identified on the property. Based on our review, the structure formerly located on the Property was built in 1948. Building materials such as floor tiles, mastic, roofing materials, paint, and caulking potentially contain lead and/or asbestos. These materials remained on-site in the debris piles. In addition, asbestos and lead may have been released from the building materials into the site soil as a result of the building demolition and fire. For both Properties, the environmental contractor recommended that soil samples be collected from across the site and that the building debris be removed and properly disposed offsite to collect samples from the underlying soil. The environmental contractor also recommended that the samples of the building materials should be collected and analyzed for asbestos and hazardous waste characteristics (lead) to evaluate appropriate disposal options.
