Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Standard and other historical sources were able to document that the subject property was developed prior to 1888 with a building containing several storefronts. The building was occupied by various retail stores, offices, banks, a millinery, a tin shop, and restaurants until it was demolished in 1929. The millinery likely consisted of hat sales based on the building size and layout. Additionally, the building was occupied by a dry cleaning and pressing parlor in at least 1925. Based on the relatively short time of operations, length of time since operations occurred, and the significant soil excavation associated with the redevelopment of the property in 1929 with the current 14-story building with a full basement, the former dry cleaning and pressing parlor operations are not a recognized environmental condition (REC). The current building was constructed in 1929 and has been occupied by various banks, retail stores, restaurants, salons/barbers, a millinery, and professional and medical offices since construction. The millinery likely consisted of hat sales based on the building size and layout. Additionally, the building was occupied by a hat cleaning and shoe shining parlor from at least 1935 until 1952.
