Additional Property Attributes

An April 2014 Phase I Investigation prepared by Fuss & ONeill (F&O) documents that the northeast portion of the Site was formerly used as a gun manufacturing facility from the late 1800s to approximately 1939 when gun manufacturing operations were replaced by the Patmore Millwork Company. Forges, machine shops, gun mounting facilities, storage facilities, pipe shops and arsenals were used as part of the gun manufacturing operations. Forges, machine shops and vehicle repair and maintenance operations were used by the millwork company. Based on the F&O Phase I, a gasoline service station was located in the northwest portion of the property and the UI electrical substation was located in the northwest corner in 1939. According to a March 2004 Phase I Investigation prepared by EnviroMed Services, Inc. (ES), the property was developed with the Father Panik Village Apartment Complex (originally named the Yellow Mill Village Apartments), built around 1940. The original apartment complex was comprised of 15 apartment buildings, a Community Hall building and a Boiler House located on the western side of the Site. In 1968 a new Community Building was constructed in the central portion of the Site. By 1990, demolition of the Father Panik Village was initiated and all of the site structures were demolished by 1995. The Site has remained a vacant lot since 1995.
