Additional Property Attributes

This site includes several private properties, including known brownfields, on the east bank of the Rock River and is located between the Hedberg Public Library and Janesville Senior Center. The recommended concept includes new single-family and multi-family development abutting the river, with underground parking and an extension of the City's off-road riverwalk/trail system.

Former Use: Although vacant since 1988, the former County Jail property sits at a critical on the east side of the River just north of our main public library, the Performing Arts Center, a senior center, and their associated riverfront green spaces. This Catalyst property was purchased several years ago by a partnership of concerned residents led by prominent local businessman, Jeff Hazecamp, to give the City time to develop plans for a high quality redevelopment project for the site and surrounding area. Underground storage tanks are believed to exist on this parcel.
