Additional Property Attributes

A total of 19 test pits were competed during the Phase II ESA investigation in November 2014 to delineate and extent of buried waste. Soil samples were collected below waste in the test pits. Five, five-point composite surface soil samples were collected in December 2014 in the area of a suspect dumping area according to the SAP. Well installation and completion of the Phase II Assessment was performed in first quarter 2015. No toxic contaminants were found at concentrations above screening levels. Additional cover material may be needed for shallowly-buried solid waste.

Former Use: The site was formerly used as an uncontrolled dump, and the site has been reclaimed and/or capped. The dump was closed sometime in the 1970's and then capped around the late 1980's, without written documentation of the extent of waste or capping activities. The tract of land is uneven, vegetated with grass and weeds, and has waste (presumably household garbage) poking through the thin capping material. The property has been owned by the Tribes since the time the Flathead Indian Reservation was established in 1855.
