Additional Property Attributes

The Recreation Building/Building 506 is located at 1549 Cutler Road in the Town of Cutler, Washington County, Maine (the "Site"). The Site is identified on Map 9 as a portion of Lot 26 and is located within a 19.6-acre former Navy Base. The Recreation Building is a 19,285 square-foot, single-story building that was constructed in 1964. The building includes a former food service area, bowling alley, basketball court/gymnasium, racquetball court, locker rooms, offices, storage areas, and a mechanical room. As reported in the 2000 Environmental Baseline Survey for Transfer (EBST) completed by Malcolm Pirnie, the Site (and surrounding properties) were purchased by the Navy in the 1950s to use as an administrative area to support the NCTS. The Site has been used for recreational purposes since its construction until December of 2003, when the Navy Base was closed. The Site has been vacant and unused since 2003. Previous environmental investigations completed at the Site identified hazardous building materials, including ACM, PCB-containing components, LBP, universal wastes, and mercury-impacted flooring which will require abatement and/or management prior to/in conjunction with any building renovations or demolition.
