Additional Property Attributes

The city of Newburyport has formally identified this property as a future recreational trail to connect the commuter train station with the Merrimack River and the central business district. The property is strategically located and represents a key component of the city's Master Plan. If developed, the property would encourage bike and foot traffic from the train station to the urban district and enhance recreational activities. Also being considered is the creation of affordable housing along the property. (PPF attached to QR 9, 10/1/05-12/31/05)

Former Use: Formerly utilized as rail line for freight service to the local manufacturing industries. Inactive since 1972. Electrical utility lines run through the property.
