Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: In 2012, a 550-gallon, No. 2 fuel oil underground storage tank (UST) was pumped out and taken out of service during conversion to natural gas for heating purposes. In November 2014, the 550-gallon, No. 2 fuel oil UST was excavated and removed from the Site by Millers Petroleum Systems, Inc. of Pittsfield, MA, (Millers). Upon removal, a petroleum odor was noted in one small area of the tank grave (specific area unknown) and a small hole was observed in one corner of the tank (specific location of the hole on the UST is unknown). Photoionization detector (PID) readings of the soil exhibited a reading above 100 parts per million by volume (ppmv), which triggered a 72-hour notification condition pursuant to the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP). The exact PID reading is unknown. The UST was transported by Millers for off-site disposal. No soil was transported offsite. Groundwater was not encountered during UST removal and clay was reportedly observed underlying the UST.
