Additional Property Attributes

The City of Toledo is seeking to acquire this property for the future jeep expansion.

Former Use: The Site is irregularly-shaped and comprised of approximately 9.75 acres. There is a partially paved road that enters the Site from Creekside Avenue and traverses approximately three-quarters the length of the Site from west to east. There are five monitoring wells located throughout the Site and various piles of debris consisting of primarily concrete and wood. A chain-link fence surrounds the northern portion of the Site while the southern portion of the Site is within the fence surrounding the former Tyler Street landfill. The southern portion of the Site within the Tyler Street landfill fence includes a waterdiversion structure that appears designed to convey storm water from the landfill to the Ottawa River located approximately 1,100 feet east of the Site. The consultant did not observe hazardous substances, petroleum products at the Site, but a metal 55-gallon drum of unknown contents was observed on the Site near the Tyler Street landfill entrance. The consultant did not identify the current presence of above ground storage tanks (ASTs) or underground storage tanks (USTs) at the Site; however; review of historical Fire Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) indicates that approximately five ASTs were located at the Site circa 1895 associated with the Maumee Valley Fertilizer and Rendering Works and N. Rassel and Sons Company. On the FIRM map dated 1950, a gasoline UST is identified on the southern portion of the Site associated with the Darling and Company plant. Also identified on the same map were three ASTs listed as containing grease; three ASTs identified as kettles; and five ASTs identified as digesters. Review of the FIRMs also identified the presence of a pad-mounted electrical transformer on the southern portion of the Site circa 1950.
