Additional Property Attributes

Site consists of two non-contiguous lots, located on the north and south sides of Market Street, between Toyne and Denby Streets. The site is part of the Long Range Property Management Plan of the Successor Agency. While currently managed by Civic, the property is in the process of being transferred to the City of San Diego Real Estate Assets Department (READ) for future development pending approval of the Long Range Property Management Plan by State of California Department of Finance.

Former Use: There are no permanent structures at the site. All structures were demolished in/around 1999-2000. Market Street South is occupied by Mount Hope Community Garden and is improved only with a small shed and canopy. Market Street North is currently unoccupied and unimproved. Commercial and retail businesses were identified at the site from 1948 to 2000. While records show there have been no potentially noxious uses onsite, a dry cleaning facility in operation for more than 45 year was identified adjacent to the N and NW of the site (across Toyne Street). Given the proximity of the dry cleaner, a vapor encroachment condition cannot be ruled out. No documented release is listed in DEH records; however, inspections were not performed until 1996.
