Additional Property Attributes

Based on the Site reconnaissance, interviews and historical documents, the Site was formerly utilized as a junkyard/automotive salvage yard from circa mid-1960s to the early 2000s. This property also supported similar activities that occurred on the eastern adjoining property (located at 846 Bay Street). A large amount of observed debris (including auto parts, drums, and general household type debris) was observed scattered across large portions of the Site. Based on the presence of this debris and the perceived overall lack of former housekeeping, there is a strong potential that releases of petroleum and/or hazardous materials to have occurred to environmental Site media. Former Use: The site is currently a vacant, commercial parcel of land consisting of a 6.559 acres, identified in the City of Springfield Assessor?s Database as Map ID 114150001.The Site was formerly utilized as a junkyard/automotive salvage yard for approximately 35 years. The City of Springfield is the current owner of the property. The City acquired the property on October 26, 2009 from Stansall, LLC through the non-payment of taxes. The Site is located between two (2) known release sites, and historic use of the subject property as depicted through historic aerial imagery, have the potential to impact the subsurface conditions at the site.
