Additional Property Attributes

The City of Toledo applied and received grant for the Ohio Development Services Agency, Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Fund in FY15. One 8,000 gallon, one 6,000 gallon, and one 1,000 gallon gasoline underground storage tanks were removed from the site. 9,657 gallons of gasoline/water mixture and 238.7 tons of petroleum impacted soil were removed from the site.

Former Use: The Site is irregularly-shaped and comprised of 0.22-acre of undeveloped vacant land. The Site was historically used as an automotive service and filling station since at least 1930. Fill ports for two underground storage tanks (USTs) were observed in the concrete paved area in the southwest portion of the Site. These two USTs represent the known USTs at the Site. Geophysical Imaging, Inc. (GII) completed a geophysical survey of the Site to confirm, locate and/or identify subsurface anomalies that may represent USTs at the Site. GIIs survey of the concrete area confirmed the presence of two USTs in the cavity beneath the concrete slab. In addition, GIIs survey of the remainder of the Site identified four additional anomalies that may represent four additional USTs buried at the Site. The locations of these anomalies are consistent with the locations of USTs depicted on historical Sanborn maps. Based on the results of the Phase II ESA, the following can be concluded: The presence of two reported abandoned USTs near the southwest corner of the Site was verified; The results of the geophysical study indicate that up to four additional USTs may be present at the Site and an additional anomaly potentially indicative of UST-associated piping was identified immediately north of the confirmed abandoned USTs; and, Soil and groundwater analytical results suggest that the Site is impacted with petroleum constituents as a result of one or more releases during its long historical use as a filling station and/or automotive service facility.
