Additional Property Attributes

The project site was once occupied by the Middle Rouge River and its flood plain. Historic information obtained indicated the river was relocated between 1905 and 1937 and that filling activities and soil disturbing activities took place between 1905 and 1957. Environmental site assessments identified heavy metal contamination in fill soils throughout the property. HYPE Athletics Community utilized the WCBRA RLF grant to fund environmental-related costs associated with the redevelopment of the property as an athletic facility.

Former Use: The site was once occupied by the Middle Rouge River and its flood plain. Historic information obtained indicated the river was relocated between 1905 and 1937. The property was used for recreational purposes including athletic fields, playgrounds, and walking trails from the 1960s until early 2000s.
