Former Use: The Sunbeam property is an 82-acre, irregularly-shaped wooded lot located on the western side of Mount Pleasant Road north of Holly Springs. The site is currently vacant and was previously owned by the Sunbeam Oster Household Products Corporation, which also operated an industrial facility immediately south of the property until 1995.There are five monitoring wells located on the southern side of the subject property. These wells were installed in early 2015 to assess groundwater contamination migration originating from the KP Vinyl (aka Sunbeam Oster) property located adjacent to the south of the subject property. According to Mr. Hudson of the MDEQ, there is confirmed groundwater contamination in the upper aquifer from a degreaser spill containing PCE and TCE in the northeastern part of the KP Vinyl facility. There is no available analytical data yet for the five wells installed on the Sunbeam property; however, based on the northern groundwater flow direction of the shallow aquifer and the shape of the known contamination plume on the KP property, as detailed in the site characterization and delineation reports there is strong potential for contaminant migration onto the subject property. The property has been owned by the Marshall County Industrial Development Authority since 2000.
