Additional Property Attributes

The subject property was developed prior to 1911 for a variety of industrial uses. A galvanized steel tank business with a foundry operated on the northeast part of the property until the early 1980s. Other early industrial operations included the Sturgis Go-Kart baby buggy plant, a wheel manufacturer that provided wheels for the buggies, steel tube bending for chairs and other furniture, and the National Carbon Coated Paper Company which manufactured registers. A manufactured gas plant also operated on part of the property until 1947 and was subsequently dismantled by 1952. Lakeland Paper has occupied the property since 1972 for manufacturing slit paper products for packaging. The majority of the buildings are used for warehousing large rolls of paper stock. Contaminants discovered in a former plating area, a former painting area, and in outdoor storage areas. A former manufactured gas plant existed on the site and was closed with a restrictive covenant in 2001.
