Additional Property Attributes

The proposed development includes a public parking garage, 300,000 sf of residential, commercial space, and a hotel. The developer has signed a development agreement with the City of Madison, who still owns the land.

Former Use: The property is owned by the City of Madison, located on the isthmus, one block from the Capitol Square. It contains a building constructed in the late 1920s for a U.S. Post Office and Federal Courthouse and a parking garage. The post office property was originally in residences and commercial buildings prior to 1920. The parking garage property was originally in stores and residences. By 1942 a filling station with a greasing area was located on the site.
