Additional Property Attributes

This site's began investigation/remediation under the Department's Petroleum Storage Tanks Section with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The site continued delineation under a previous Brownfields Assessment conducted in 2011-12. This 2015 assessment focused on investigating the vapor intrusion pathway in the area of the former underground storage tank pit, the proposed location for a future residential building. In addition, as contamination is in excess of the residential Tier 1 Risk-Based Target Levels, soil samples were collected for geotechnical eter analysis. As the site is currently seeking closure through the Tanks Section, the BVCP recommends using the data obtained from the 2015 assessment to submit a Tier 2 Risk Assessment to the Tanks Section.

Former Use: This 0.316-acre site is a former gas station that had three underground storage tanks (USTs). The USTs were removed from the site by the Department's Tanks Section in April 2010 with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. In 2011 the site applied for a Brownfields Assessment for conducting a Phase II investigation, to delineate the contamination discovered during UST removal. Further remediation within the Tanks Program has necessitated additional delineation of the contamination. The Land Reutilization Authority is requesting an additional Brownfields Assessment to further delineate the extent of the contamination. Redevelopment plans call for future residential use of this site, which lies in the historic Tower Grove South neighborhood of St. Louis.
