Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Site was previously used for agricultural purposes until 1971. The Site was formerly a part of a 366-acre farm on the north side of the Leon River. The Site includes a ranch house, a cabin, a barn, several storage sheds, and outdoor entertainment structures include a gazebo, footbridge, and band stage. The former parts of the farm on the southeast side continue to be used for hay production along the banks of the Leon River, and part of the northeastern farm has been developed as a car dealership. Commercial/industrial property is located adjacent to the Site on the south side of the Leon River. An Amoco gas station is located on the west side, adjacent to IH-35. The Ratliff RediMix concrete plant is located southwest of the ranch house and east of the Cefco gas station. The Rockwool Industries, Inc. Federal Superfund Site is located east to southeast of the Ratliff RediMix concrete plant. Rockwool Industries staged shot materials in piles along the banks of the Leon River. The property has a well house that contains an unused shallow water well. The well has not been plugged and abandoned. The property had an approximately 250-gallon elevated storage tank (AST) for non-highway diesel fuel. The diesel tank was removed on January 12, 2011. The ranch house was used infrequently as a residence and has been used to host recreational activities. The cabin is a small building with a historical marker on it and is not used for lodging. The Site is currently used for agricultural purposes. The property has hosted recreation activities. However, the structures remain vacant with the exception of the horse shed that boards a horse and donkey. The property is predominantly used for grazing. Pasture No. 3 is a fenced area in the southeast corner of the property that is used to grow hay and is plowed infrequently.
