Additional Property Attributes

The City of Hammond is in the process of evaluating both public and private sector investment opportunities within the Wolf Lake Area. Those activities include passive and active recreation, residential, retail and commercial reuse. It is anticipated that this property will be redeveloped for commercial and residential opportunities. It is anticipated that the Phase I ESA will begin immediately. This parcel is one of four in the Wolf Lake Area that has been identified for redevelopment. This parcel along with the past and future efforts are specifically geared to revitalize North Hammond. Evidence of that includes the Pavilion, Wolf Lake Park, Splash Pad, Lost Marsh Golf Course, various pedestrian trails and Conservatory. Grant support is needed to assist the City in identifying baseline levels of contamination on the subject sites so that appropriate funding (both sources and uses) can clearly be defined. As in the past, Hammond is looking to leverage this grant with Federal, State, local and the private sector funds.
