Additional Property Attributes

The Site contained two (2) warehouses, one (1) office, two (2) storage buildings, a minimum of one (1) underground storage tank (UST) and
approximately nine (9) aboveground storage tanks (ASTs). The known UST was located near the old pump house and the second potential UST was
located near the southeast corner of the office building. Historically, the property was utilized as a petroleum fuel distributor, a coal yard, and a fertilizer
distributor. The Site is believed to have operated as a bulk petroleum storage facility from at least the 1920s to the 1960s at which point it became
Stanley Fertilizer. Stanley Fertilizer operated at the Site from the 1960s to 2013. The ASTs onsite may have been used to store both petroleum and
fertilizer. This 128(a) funding was used to conduct a pre-demolition asbestos/lead paint survey and the Town of Plainfield subsequently razed all of the
structures (after asbestos abatement) and the IBP awarded a separate POSI grant to remove the USTs and remediate the Site.

The Site was believed to be a bulk petroleum storage facility from at least the 1920s to the 1960s when it became Stanley Fertilizer. Stanley Fertilizer operated at the Site from the 1960s to 2013. In 2008, a frozen and cracked valve on an AST allowed the spillage of approximately 2,000 to 3,000-gallons of fertilizer which flowed east across East Depot Street and south down North East Street. Phase II ESA activities completed in 2016 included the installation of 30 soil borings and a site wide GPR survey. The GPR survey and Site inspection discovered 2 USTs. The typical lithology encountered at the Site is composed of sandy and silty clays to approximately 7.25 ? 14.75 BGS. A wet clayey sand was generally encountered underlying the clay at thicknesses ranging between 1 foot and 4.5 feet. Underlying this wet sand was stiff, grey or grey brown clay. The primary contaminants found include both adsorbed and dissolved Metals & SVOCs, along with dissolved VOCs & Nitrates.

Former Use: The subject Site is irregular in shape & encompasses ~1.2 acres. Two warehouses, 1 office, 2 storage buildings, 2 USTs & 14 ASTs are present.
