Property Highlights

The Site is heavily wooded & is situated in a rural area south of Bloomington, Indiana. In February 1991, a Site Assessment Report was issued for the Site & according to the report & a transfer of ownership record, a portion of the 21-acre property was used from approximately 1960 to 1971 as a dump for trash and coal ash from the Indiana University power plant. In 1962, �Hooker�/City of Bloomington incinerator materials and trash from the Winston Thomas Sewage Treatment Plant were disposed of on-site. Until approximately 1975, the Site may have also received leftover materials from scrapping/ salvaging of off-specification PCB containing Westinghouse capacitors. Phase II ESA activities completed in 2016 included the installation of 30 soil borings & included a site wide GPR survey. The GPR survey identified the location of the historical dump area and waste/fill was encountered in 19 of the 30 soil borings. The primary contaminants found include adsorbed Metals & PCBs.

Former Use: 13 acres of the 21-acre property were used from ~ 1960-75 as a dump for trash & coal ash, incinerator materials, & potentially PCB-impacted capacitor components.
