Additional Property Attributes

This property was the Jeannette Glass Plant which has been closed for many years. It is severely dilapidated and is a well-documented concern for the community

Former Use: The Property is located at Bullitt Avenue and South Sixth Street in Jeannette, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and encompasses 13.2 acres of unoccupied, industrial land. The Property is recorded in the Westmoreland County Tax Assessment as Parcel Number 14-01-16-0-085. According to the historical documents review, the Property was developed prior to 1891. From circa 1891 to circa 1900, the Property was occupied by the McKee and Brothers Glass Works and the Jeannette Planing Mill Company. By 1900, the glass factory was labeled as the American Window Glass Company McKee & Brothers Glass Works and, by 1905, as the National Glass Company McKee Jeannette Glass Works. On the 1910 Sanborn map, the Property was occupied by the McKee Glass Company and the North Western Expanded Metal Company. The Jeannette Glass works was closed permanently in 1982 and the site was sold in 1983. According to Mr. Jeff Means, former maintenance manager, the former glass factory ceased operations in 1982 with a metals shop operational until 2012.

The site was cleared and prepared for redevelopment in 2017-2018
