Additional Property Attributes

The Site consists of approximately five acres of undeveloped land located on the southwest corner of the intersection of NW 37th Avenue and 183rd Street in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Site is currently vacant and fenced with a locked gate. Large trees and dense vegetation areas are located within the interior of the Site. The topography of the Site is flat, but areas of varying elevation and outcropping of solid waste makes it apparent that portions of the Site have been filled with debris. The Site is located in a mixed residential and commercial area of Miami Gardens. An apartment housing complex is located adjacent west of the Site. The Site is bordered to the north by NW 183rd Street and a Walgreens store; to the east by NW 37th Avenue and a closed gasoline station undergoing redevelopment; and to the south by NW 181st Court followed by Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department (WASD) facility. The lot was formerly part of the Carol City Utilities Sewage Treatment Plant, which was located south of the Site. The sewage plant was purchased by Miami-Dade County in 1979 and the plant was reportedly decommissioned. It appears that a pump station and storage area, with a large aboveground tank is currently located south of the Site that is now operated by the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department (WASD). The Site reportedly received waste sludge from the former adjacent treatment plant. Excavation of ponds on the Site and backfilling with solid waste was reported to have occurred in the past.
