Additional Property Attributes

Abandoned gas station. The property is predominantly comprised of vacant, vegetated land, with a drinking water well and former bathroom structure. A former landfill adjoins the property to the southeast, and evidence of landfill debris (tires, discarded bottles, etc.) can be observed in areas of the property that are most proximal to the landfill. A brief environmental assessment checklist describes a former gas station located on the property (Midway Store) that was closed in 1994. Petroleum impacts to soil in the berm surrounding Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs) were listed in the checklist, however the extent of impacts near the ASTs, underground piping, or dispensers was not known. Property is on U.S. Highway 93, and was a former fueling station. A Phase II site assessment was completed in August 2016. Results from the investigation indicate that all target analytes were well below any applicable risk-based screening levels in both subsurface soils and groundwater.

Former Use: Tribal Trust Land. The target property is located in a rural area on U.S. Highway 93 approximately six miles northwest of Arlee, Montana. The property is approximately 13 acres and is currently owned by the CSKT. The target property is predominantly comprised of vacant, vegetated land, and was formerly an operating fueling station adjacent to a former landfill.
