Additional Property Attributes

The City of Yuma retained Ayres Associates to perform a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) at 430 South Main Street in Yuma, Arizona. The Phase II investigation was completed as part of the this current brownfield grant for the Old Town South redevelopment area. Its ive was to determine if potential environmental impacts that were identified in a Phase I ESA (conducted under the prior grant) exist and their possible affect on the property�s redevelopment, should any exist.

Former Use: The subject property was acquired by the Southern Pacific Railroad from the City of Yuma in 1877, and the depot building was constructed circa 1891. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and the railroad sold the property in 2006. According to information maintained by the National Register of Historic Places, large quantities of railroad supplies, ties, rails, coal, and ice were stored at the building.
