The property is located at 403, 409, & 411 Main Street, Mount Vernon, Indiana in an area characterized by commercial land uses. The property is located in the heart of Mount Vernon near the courthouse and other historic buildings. The property has become blighted and is in dire need of being redeveloped. The structural components of the building have become unsafe for bystanders and tenants. The Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana is securing funding for the City of Mount Vernon through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) for the amount of $350,000 to demolish and cleanup the property to allow for greenspace or commercial develop opportunities.

Former Use: The property is located at 403, 409, & 411 Main Street, Mount Vernon, Indiana in an area characterized by commercial land uses. A review of the historical records sources showed the property was used as a mill from 1887 to 1907 and a dry cleaner from 1955 to 1972. Historically, multiple gasoline stations, automotive service shops, and drycleaners were identified on nearby properties. Notable past ownership of the property includes A.S.H. Inc. (current), Gordon Jeffries (current), and Cox-Winiger Developments, LLC (current), Louis and Helen Risch (1948-ca 1986), and Tresslar, Inc. (1963-1979) among several other prior owners. Risch's New Way Cleaners operated on the property in 1972.
