Additional Property Attributes

Multiple detections of chemicals of concern were reported in soil samples from Phase II Assessment. However, the detections were all well below BUSTR Soil Action Levels. Groundwater samples exhibited no detections of any chemicals of concern. Asbestos containing materials were identified in the former service building on the site. It is recommended to remove the 3 USTs, remove the 2 dispenser islands and associated products, and abate and dispose of any identified ACM in the former service building. Tank removal activities yielded TPH C6-C12 and Xylene levels above action levels below dispenser island. Consultant submitting BUSTR Corrective Action Letter.

Former Use: The above named property was previously a Starfire Gas Station that was owned by Premium Petroleum, which has gone out of business. It has a 400 square foot building, built in 1938, along with a 192 square foot storage building built in 2002, on the .48 acre property. The gas station has been closed since May 2008 and has been sitting vacant since that time. This property is a high-traffic area on Market Avenue/State Route 43 just south of where Market splits off from Route 43. The site has been vacant for a number of years, since approximately May 2008. In their nomination of the property, Plain Township officials stated that in addition to the gas station building and storage building, four gas pumps and three steel underground storage tanks still remain.
