Additional Property Attributes

At the time of the reconnaissance, the Property consisted of approximately 0.25 acres of land developed with a vacant two-story commercial building and drive through canopy. The remainder of the Property was developed with paved drives and walkways. The Property was located in a commercial area of downtown Mitchell. This assessment has revealed no evidence of recognized environmental conditions in connection with the Property except for the following: ? The potential for undetected and/or unreported releases of hazardous substances and/or petroleum products on the Property from o the former dry cleaner that operated on western portion of the Property in at least 1950; and o the former millinery that operated on the central portion of the Property between at least 1894 and 1899. ? The potential for environmental impact from a 1966 fire, which destroyed the buildings on the western portion of the Property. ? The potential for undetected and/or unreported migration of environmental impact on to the Property from o the east-adjoining former dry cleaning operations that occurred in the 1970s and 1980s; o the south-adjoining former junk yard that operated from at least 1943 to 1950; and o the former tin shop, blacksmith, print shop, and gasoline engine that operated approximately 40 feet to the west of the Property between at least 1894 and 1931.

Former Use: 1894 - 1899 The Property was developed with a millinery, a dwelling, two offices, and four outbuildings. 1909 The Property was developed with a bank, racket store, office, dwelling, auto house, and two outbuildings. 1918 Only the northeastern and northwestern most structures remained, operating as a bank and a barber, respectively. An outbuilding was present at the southeast corner. 1931 - 1960 A bank continued to operate on the eastern portion. The southeastern outbuilding was no longer present and additional buildings were present on the Property?s western portion. Various occupants on the western portion included a bake house, warehouse, plumbing supplier, and store. A dry cleaner was also present on the western portion in at least 1950. 1966 A fire occurred on the Property?s western portion and the western structures were demolished. The bank on the eastern portion remained. 1972-2005 An addition was added to the western portion of the bank building in 1972, in the location of the portion that previously burned. The Property operated as First National Bank of Mitchell and Bloomfield Bank. 2005 - 2007 The Property was vacant. 2007 - 2015 The Property operated as the Mitchell Bus Department and Police Department. 2015 - 2016 The Property was vacant.
