Additional Property Attributes

The city plans to use the building as a community center focusing on youth development, workforce development, and education. Several partners have been identified to collaborate on the renovation of the property. The Union Pacific Railroad right of way to the south is included in future plans for a linear trail through the city of Elsa.

Former Use: The property consists of a rectangular shaped parcel of land comprised of an asphalt parking lot, one large commercial building constructed in 1945 with multiple additions through 1990, and one standalone commercial building occupying approximately 5.0965-acres. The property buildings consist of one approximately 145,405 square foot building and one unattached building consisting of approximately 2,480 square feet, which were constructed from the mid-1940s through 1990 of steel framing, sheet metal, brick, and cinder blocks. The property also consisted of three silos; multiple concrete pads for aboveground storage tanks, compressors, and/or silos; 23 pole-mounted electrical transformers; one ground-mounted electrical transformer; and four potential sumps. Ingress/egress to the target property is provided by entrances along Fannin Street and 6th Avenue. Former operations include fruit packaging and shipping, automotive repair, and plastics manufacturing. The site is currently owned by the City of Elsa.
