Additional Property Attributes

The For Belknap Indian Community would like to redevelop the Snake Butte Quarry into a green space. The site is a historic landmark that has and continues to be used by Tribal members for culural and religious ceremonies. Based on past quarry operations, this Phase 2 ESA investigated for VPH, EPH, PAH, VOC, explosives, and metlas in surface soils, surface wter, and sediments at the site. The Phase 2 ESA also evaluated spring water for human consumption. Though low-level contaminants were detected in areas, the results did not identify concentrations prohibitive of current and/or planned uses.

Former Use: The Snake Butte Quarry operated as a quarry in the 1930s by the United States Corps of Engineers for riprap material used in construction of the Fort Peck Dam.
