Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: A school was built in 1962 by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). The BIA school was used until at least 1982 when a new school was constructed in the village. In 1995 the BIA school was reported to be used for housing and its washeteria facilities. The property owner, Alaska DNR/DOT, has several leases for portions of the properties to be used for public buildings and operations. In 1983 an earth station was built on the property and the land subsequently leased. The satellite dish is no longer on the site. The tank farm was leased to the Rampart Village Council in 1984 for fuel storage for power generation in the village. The Village installed a 25,000 gallon above ground storage tank adjacent to the out-of-use school fuel tanks. The Village also built a new generator building on the adjacent parcel; the new generator building and tank farm are still in use to power the village. In 1990, a new community well was drilled on the property and in1996 the village built a public clinic. ADEC Contaminated Sites Database indicates a new washeteria had been built around 2009.
