Additional Property Attributes

Bearings Bike Shop requested Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) during their acquisition due diligence period in 2016. The site sits on the BeltLine Westside Trail and has a distinctive Quonset hut. For years, a metal fabricator and an automotive service and repair shop operated on the site. City of Atlanta Phase I and II ESAs in 2016 has led to the redevelopment of Bearings Bike Shop, including property acquisition in 2017 for $450,000. Bearings completed its purchase in 2017. Bearings Bike Shop is a non-profit, youth development organization where local kids can earn and maintain a bicycle while developing important skills and character. In 2018, the organization kicked off a capital campaign to raise funds to further improve the property. Improvements to date include site work, creation of a path connecting to the new Beltline, new roof, renovation of the repair shop (Building A), demo and rebuild of the retail building (Building B) and the renovations to the Bearings shed.

Former Use: Metal fabricator on the site until the 1980s and then the property was used as a car repair shop.
