Additional Property Attributes

The severely blighted commercial building was constructed between 1913 and 1928. The building has contained several uses since constructed, including concrete burial vault manufacturing, automotive painting and repair, dog and food warehousing. Evidence of a UST in the form of fill and vent pipes are present and flagged in the Phase I ESA. An in-ground hydraulic automotive lift is also present. In May 2021 the building was demolished and the UST and hydraulic lift removed as part of that work. During removal of the UST, no visible evidence of a release was observed. Upon receipt of the laboratory report, several PNAs exceeded State cleanup objectives. The PNAs were determined to be from the fill use in the vicinity of the UST and not the actual tank. Therefore a Heating Oil Closure letter was issued by the Illinois EPA to bring closure to the reported UST release. There are currently no redevelopment plans for the property and greenspace is the current use.
