Property Highlights

The Site contains three (3) primary buildings and two (2) small storage sheds. A concrete steam tunnel is connected to the west side of the administration building and continues to the west boundary of the Site. Other tunnels are present below the ground surface of the Site and contained water and steam lines for the buildings. The Site was first developed after 1907 for the operation of a tuberculosis sanatorium. The tuberculosis sanatorium operated through the 1950s and later operated as a mental health facility/nursing home between 1978 and 2011. Asbestos containing thermal system insulation (TSI) was identified on piping and boiler equipment located in the Administrative building and the five-story patient building and throughout the steam tunnels. Limited surface soil (lead, barium, and naphthalene) and groundwater (arsenic, lead, benzene, 1,2,4-TMB, and naphthalene) impacts were observed at the Site and require further evaluation.

Former Use: Between ~1907 & the 1950�s, the Site operated as a tuberculosis sanatorium. The facility later operated as a mental health facility/nursing home between 1978 & 2011.
