Additional Property Attributes

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is in negotiations to enter into a joint venture development agreement with the owner to co-develop the adjacent 3301 Atlantic Avenue site. The agreement will transfer ownership of 242 Chestnut from Atlantic Chestnut, LLC to a CHLDC-affiliated entity after performance of a Phase I assessment, with the intent that CHLDC will develop 242 Chestnut as a community center.

Former Use: According to the Sanborn maps and city directories, the Solidarity Watch Company occupied the site from 1908 until at least 1928. From 1951 until its demolition in 2000, the building on the site housed various commercial operations. It is unknown what kind of operations were conducted or what kind of chemicals were used at the watch company. Soil, groundwater, and soil vapor contamination may exist in connection with the use of the site. Based on the available historic data, and in the absence of Phase II test data, the site's historical use as an industrial watch company is therefore considered to be a REC.
