Property undergoing Brownfield Site Rehabilitation Agreement with the state/FDEP. Proposed redevelopment of income-based housing complex.

Former Use: The site consists of approximately 1.5 acres of commercial land located at 901 North Main Street, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. The site consists of one parcel identified by the Duval County Property Appraiser as RE# 074378-0000. The site is vacant with remnant concrete decks of a two-story parking garage remaining onsite. The parking garage extends below grade in the northern portion of the site and the other areas of the site are covered with concrete. The parking garage was associated with a former hotel constructed in 1966. There are no present occupants of the site. The site and surrounding areas have been an urban developed area since the early 1900�s. The site was formerly utilized as a manufactured gas plant (MGP) facility from approximately 1875 to 1913, known as Jacksonville Gas Works and Citizens Gas Company. The plant utilized coal carbonization and/or carbureted waste gas processes during its lifetime to produce gas. Subsequent to the MGP operation closing, the site was used for automobile sales operated by Claude Nolan, Inc. A hotel was constructed on the site by 1966 and was razed in 2011.
