Additional Property Attributes

Phase II site asessment activities were conducted in November of 2017. Based on the soil and groundwater results from the Site, it appears that the Site has been impacted by historical onsite operations. A Further Site Investigation (FSI) was conducted in February 2018 to define the lateral extent of the VOCs, with the primary focus being given to defining the offsite lateral extent of dissolved VOCs. Results of the FSI showed that groundwater beneath the Site and dissolved VOCs above the most stringent RCG Screening Level have migrated offsite to the south and southwest. Former Use: The Site was occupied by a machine shop from at least 1915 through the 1990's and subsequently a plating shop and auto repair shop appears to have occupied the Site . Solvents such as part cleaning products and degreasing agents may have been utilized in these operations at the Site. Other potential contaminants from the machine shop, auto repair, and plating shop include metals, VOCs, coolant, and waste oil. An EPA emergency removal action occurred in 2011 and hazardous wastes associated with the former plating operation (Antique Chrome Shop) was removed from the Site. The concrete floor in the basement was tested with an XRF and extremely elevated levels of total lead (4,368 ppm) and total chromium (45,800 ppm) were detected on the surface of the floor. The floors were then cleaned and sealed with an epoxy sealant. This site is abandoned (since 2011) and is tax delinquent and the City of Indianapolis is considering acquiring the property.
