Additional Property Attributes

The property is located in the heart of downtown Evansville. A private developer is in the process of redevelopment planning for the Market on Vine Project. The 60 million dollar project is focused on revitalizing the downtown area and improving the livability and lifestyle of the region. The modern development will include energy efficient technologies, luxury apartments, an urban living research center, smart living integration, and retail / dining options. Office space and a parking structure are also expected to be available to tenants/businesses.

Former Use: The property consists of an irregular shaped lot totaling approximately 1.61 acres. The property is currently vacant/undeveloped land with pavement and grass areas. The property is used as a farmer�s market from May to October, various outdoor events, and parking for large City events in the downtown region. Several structures have been demolished on the property since the acquisition by the City of Evansville. According to historical records, an automotive dealership, oil companies, and various industrial businesses have occupied the property since the 1800s. Historical uses of nearby properties in the downtown area included a drycleaner, gasoline stations, automotive service stations, and a bus station. The property is currently owned by the City of Evansville Redevelopment Commission. Prior ownership included but not limited to Virginia Smith and family descendants, Ken Rose, Inc., Robert Michael Kent, Lillian Corporation, IEI Capital Corporation, and Southern Indiana Partners, Inc.
