Additional Property Attributes

The property includes a storage building used by the Scales Lake County Park. The building was constructed in 1958 and is currently in a poor and unsafe condition for the local park visitors and staff. The building is currently in the process of being demolished by the park. The removal of the building will help to revitalize the park's appearance and allow for safe camping, hiking, and fishing nearby. The County is expected to provide funding/resources for the demolition of the building and asbestos removal that is estimated at approximately 15,000 dollars.

Former Use: The property consists of an approximately 0.04-acre portion of Scales Lake County Park. An approximate 540 square foot vacant building makes up the majority of the property. The interior of the building was observed in poor condition. The roof and north wall are partially collapsed with evidence of water intrusion to the building interior. ATC observed scrap tires, trash, and building debris in the building. The areas outside of the building include grass and wooded areas. The building appears to have been used historically for storage and operations associated with the state fishery hatchery. The current owner is the Warrick County Department of Parks and Recreation. Past ownership included the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) prior to 1972.
