Additional Property Attributes

The Old Warrick County Jail is located along the Main Street hub of Boonville, Indiana. The property building is listed in National Register of Historic Places. Since its construction in 1876, the building condition has undergone some degradation several building components and is in dire need of renovation. Assessments performed as part of this grant have been leveraged to apply for $16,800 for historic preservation planning through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. The end goal of this property is to restore the historic appearance and preserve the building integrity to allow for safe conditions to incoming visitors and occupants.

Former Use: The property consists of 0.31 acres and is developed with a two-story brick building with a partial basement. Additionally, a single story addition is located on the north end of the building. The building is situated on the southeastern portion of the property. The first and second floors of the building are unoccupied and partially renovated. The building was constructed in 1876 and used as a County jail until the 1960s. The building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Other past uses of the property included a senior citizen's center, and general storage. The current owner is Warrick County. Other past owners include Phillip Lutz, Neil and Bessie Bohrer, Fred and Lena Becker, Flora Gowen, and Alan and Ann Ahrens.
