Additional Property Attributes

Property is being purchased by the Town of West Rutland to be used as greenspace and space for street vendors (e.g. food carts).

Former Use: The Site consists of one 0.21-acre, vacant lot located at 435 Main Street, in West Rutland, Vermont. The Site and adjoining properties have been developed since the late 1800�s in a commercial and residential portion of the town. The Site is within an area designated as �urban soils background area� in the Vermont ANR Natural Resources Atlas. The Site is paved with asphalt and contains the remains of a concrete building footprint in the southwest corner and a concrete pad for a former gasoline pump island along the northern edge of the Site. The Site is accessed via Main Street and is unsecured. Topography at the Site is generally level. Groundwater at the Site is essentially flat, with minor components of flow to the northwest. Surficial geology at the Site consists of approximately 5-10 feet of sand overlying a fine to coarse gravel. Potential redevelopment options at the Site include creating open green space or as part of proposed changes to the traffic pattern at the intersection.
