Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The general historic use of the Site includes: an electricity generating station and manufacturing used by the City of Jamestown, a former bus garage located on Site, storage of unknown waste materials on Site, and railroad traffic associated with the Site. Environmental assessment work at the property has recommended the installation of a Site wide cap to prevent further human exposure to surface and subsurface contaminants.

Future Use: The property is being redeveloped into the Riverwalk Community Skatepark. Construction completion on the skatepark is planned for November 2021. The skatepark hardscape will serve as the site capping which will prevent future human exposure to the onsite contaminants. In addition areas of green space are being capped with a minimum one foot thick layer of DER-10 compliant soil for Commercial Use. A Site Management Plan has been put into place and is currently being implemented during the construction phase of the project. Information on the current development of the skatepark can be found at the following URL: https://www.post-journal.com/news/local-news/2021/01/unique-concept/
